How Many Times Can I Take the TEAS

The number of times you may take the TEAS exam is primarily determined by the nursing or allied health program to which you are applying, not by ATI (the test maker). However, ATI allows candidates to take the TEAS every 30 days, with no lifetime limit set by the testing company itself.

Most schools impose their own restrictions, commonly allowing students to take the TEAS two or three times per application cycle, often with a required waiting period of 30 to 90 days between attempts. Some programs will consider only your highest overall score, while others may average scores or review all attempts.

It is important to note that each retake requires payment of the full exam fee, and all scores are reported to the institutions you designate. Therefore, it is advisable to prepare thoroughly before each attempt.

To ensure compliance, always check the specific retake policy of your target nursing program before scheduling the TEAS. Planning your attempts strategically—allowing adequate time for targeted review between tests—can significantly improve your score and strengthen your application.
